Woken up at
2.45a.m. by
heavy rain,
loud thunder and
bright lightning. Many others probably were, too. If some of you can recall, the lightning made the sky as light as day, and the thunder was as loud as.... thunder.
With her mother's intuition, my mum came up to my room, inviting me to sleep downstairs in hers and my father's room. I obliged, hoping to seek a little bit more silence and darkness in the comfort of the second floor. (My room was on the third floor, so the thunder was louder and the lightning was brighter in my room compared to theirs.)
When I woke up again at 6:10 a.m., the storm was already over. When I got to school, I met 2 friends. Since I had forgotten my index number for the competition (!!!), I borrowed a scrap of paper an copied it from the bulletin board outside the H.O.D. office.
Then, my friends and I headed to the Foyer A where we were supposed to assemble. Unfortunately, my friends were in different groups, so we split up to sit according to our groups. Thankfully, I had brought a storybook. I read until we were supposed to go.
Each group rode in their own bus. I 'partnered' Yu Hui and we sat down, quite prepared for the
long ride to HCI. On the way there, some of the GEP pupils played a 'relavance' game. (want to know what it is? Sorry, too long to explain here. =P) It was so funny! Watching them play was the entertainment all the way there. I didn't even need to read my story book!
HCI was
HUGE! It had many, many buildings, even a clocktower in a ginormous building. There, the HCI pupils took over the groups while the teachers-in-charge seemed to have disappeared altogether. My group,
group 15, were led to a classroom on the ground floor. (It wasn't exactly on the ground floor/road level, because HCI was built on several hills.)
I don't really want to talk about
during the paper, so I'll just tell you this: It was
really hard! I only managed to answer 15/30 questions. One
GEP guy only answered 18! I feel frustrated whenever I think about the dumb paper.
Before we left, we were given a 4-bar Kitkat and a packet drink each. On the way back, the GEP students played the game again, but this time Nicole joined in. They had a lot of fun.
Once we reached school, the GEP students went off for the scrabble contest while the rest of us headed home. My mum picked me up with my grandparents and we went to Katong Beef Noodles along East Coast Road to eat lunch. (by then it was like 12:30.) After eating, we dropped off my grandparents at their house and we went home to spend the rest of the day together as my mother had to go overseas the next night. My dad, who was at work, came back to have tea with us then went back to work.
The rest of the day was spent reading and blogging. =P
